Lay's Rolls Out Global Brand Refresh in India, Focus on Quality
Lay’s has introduced its global brand refresh in India, marking one of the brand’s most comprehensive updates in nearly 90 years.
The move places a clear emphasis on ingredient quality, product transparency, and stronger consumer connect, as the brand strengthens its positioning in a competitive snack market.
The refreshed packaging brings Lay’s agricultural roots to the forefront by highlighting its use of farm-grown potatoes.
New on-pack messaging such as “Made with Finest Potatoes” makes ingredient quality more visible and easier for consumers to identify at the point of purchase.
Enhanced imagery of real ingredients and a richer colour palette have been added to reinforce freshness and authenticity.

Developed by PepsiCo India’s in-house Design & Innovation team, the new visual identity retains key brand assets such as the iconic sun and red ribbon. At the same time, it introduces refined elements including a sharper logo, sun-inspired “Lay’s Rays,” and a custom typeface designed to reflect a modern and approachable brand tone. Backgrounds inspired by farms and fields, along with improved food photography, aim to underline care, taste, and consistency.
The brand refresh is supported by a new creative platform, “Lay’s Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi,” featuring actor Ranbir Kapoor. The campaign captures everyday moments where consumers express preference, attachment, and small acts of indulgence linked to their favourite Lay’s flavours. The communication focuses on relatable behaviour rather than exaggeration, keeping the brand grounded in daily consumption habits.
Alongside design changes, Lay’s has also introduced recycle-ready packaging, using a polyolefin-based structure. This aligns with PepsiCo India’s broader focus on sustainable packaging and improved recyclability when materials are collected as post-consumer waste.
