Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Rules Indian Box Office

The anime film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle has swept through Indian theaters, raking in over ₹50 crore in just six days since its release on September 12.

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and brought to life by Ufotable, this Japanese blockbuster has become the biggest foreign animated film in India, leaving major Bollywood movies in its dust.

The movie, the first of a trilogy wrapping up the Demon Slayer saga, kicked off with a massive ₹40 crore opening weekend. Even with a 70% drop on Monday, it held strong through the weekdays, hitting ₹51.20 crore by Wednesday.

Fans have shown up in droves, with the original Japanese version leading the charge, earning over half the total. The Hindi and English dubbed versions pulled in ₹10.60 crore and ₹9.50 crore, respectively. With over 500,000 tickets sold before release, theaters in cities like Mumbai and Delhi added extra showtimes, including midnight and 5 AM screenings, to keep up with the craze.

The movie has already surpassed the Son of Sardaar 2 of Ajay Devgn (₹47 crore) and is poised to lose Tiger Shroff in Baaghi 4 (₹52 crore). It currently becomes the second-grossest animated movie in India, only second to The Lion King. The hype began early and it recorded 18 crores advance bookings in the country, the highest in the history of anime in the country.

The viewers are unable to end talking about the stunning animation, the captivating storyline, and the heartfelt hits of the movie. Praise is showered upon the social media, and the English dub, with such celebrities as Channing Tatum and Rebecca Wang, has brought an extra gloss. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is not a mere hit but a game-changer as it is demonstrating that anime is taking over the hearts and setting records in India like never before.
