Awarapan 2 Beats Batwara 1947 With 81% Advance Booking Lead

Awarapan 2 has taken an early lead over Batwara 1947 in the advance booking battle. The two films are set for an Independence Day clash on August 14.

Trade estimates suggest Emraan Hashmi’s sequel has built stronger momentum before release. Awarapan 2 has reportedly sold nearly 68,000 tickets in advance. The film has also recorded around ₹2.20 crore in advance sales.

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 has sold around 37,600 tickets. This gives Awarapan 2 an estimated 81% lead in ticket sales. The numbers have added to the buzz around the two-film clash.

Awarapan 2 Leads the Advance Booking Race

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala told NDTV that Awarapan 2 currently has the advantage. He said the early numbers point toward a stronger opening for the Emraan Hashmi starrer. The film carries the nostalgia of Emraan Hashmi’s 2007 hit Awarapan. That connection appears to be helping its advance sales. The sequel has also performed better across major national cinema chains.

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel expects the gap to remain significant before release. He believes Awarapan 2 could earn nearly twice as much as Batwara 1947 on opening day and over the weekend.

Kadel has predicted a strong opening for Awarapan 2. He expects the film to collect ₹13-16 crore net on Friday. The movie could reach ₹20 crore if it gets better showcasing at single-screen theaters. Its weekend collection could reach ₹50-60 crore or more.

In comparison, Batwara 1947 is expected to open around ₹7-9 crore net. This would put Awarapan 2 well ahead if the early estimates hold. The national chain numbers also show a major difference between the films. Awarapan 2 has sold roughly 35,000 tickets across PVR INOX and Cinepolis. Batwara 1947 has sold only around 8,000 tickets across the same chains.

Kadel expects the gap to grow before the films hit theaters.
