PVR INOX Expands Beyond Movies with 'Live on Stage' Entertainment Push

By Media Infotainment Team | Monday, 29 June 2026

India's largest multiplex chain, PVR INOX, is broadening its entertainment strategy by transforming cinema halls into multi-purpose live event venues through its 'Live on Stage' initiative. The programme aims to host live performances such as music concerts, poetry sessions, stand-up comedy, storytelling, qawwalis, and cultural events, allowing audiences to experience entertainment beyond traditional movie screenings.

The initiative is part of PVR INOX's alternate programming strategy designed to maximise the use of existing cinema infrastructure while creating new engagement opportunities for audiences and artists alike. Instead of competing with large concert venues, the company is positioning its auditoriums as intimate cultural spaces that enable closer interaction between performers and viewers.

Speaking about the vision, Nayana Bijli, Lead - Distribution and Licensing, PVR INOX Limited, said the company is reimagining cinemas as destinations for culture, creativity and community experiences. "Live on Stage is an exciting new chapter for PVR INOX as we continue to evolve our cinemas into spaces that go beyond movie-going and become destinations for culture and community experiences."

Building Multi-Format Entertainment Spaces

PVR INOX's new platform complements its growing portfolio of alternate content, including live sports screenings, concerts, gaming events, film festivals and movie re-releases. The company is leveraging its nationwide multiplex network to create multiple entertainment formats without investing in entirely new venues.

The company believes the initiative is driven by growing consumer demand for shared cultural experiences rather than fluctuating box-office collections. According to management, movies will continue to remain the core business while live programming offers an additional avenue to engage audiences throughout the year.

Supporting Artists Through Wider Reach

Under the Live on Stage model, PVR INOX provides auditoriums, ticketing infrastructure, marketing support and food and beverage services, while artists focus on delivering performances. Events are available through the PVR INOX platform and online ticketing partners, enabling performers to reach audiences across multiple cities.

The company has already hosted performances ranging from qawwalis and poetry evenings to Pride Month celebrations featuring artist Rani KoHEnur, and continues to expand the format with storytelling and acoustic music showcases in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

Backed by one of India's largest multiplex networks, PVR INOX plans to gradually expand Live on Stage beyond metropolitan cities. The company intends to organise performances wherever artists have a growing fan base, making use of its existing cinema infrastructure across the country.
