Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par to Stream on YouTube
Aamir Khan is doing things differently with his new movie, Sitaare Zameen Par. Instead of landing on big streaming platforms like Netflix or Prime Video, it’s heading straight to YouTube starting August 1, 2025.
For just ₹100 in India, fans can watch this heartfelt follow-up to 2007’s Taare Zameen Par. It’ll also be available in 38 countries, including the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, with prices tailored to each region. This is YouTube India’s first major pay-per-view film premiere, and it’s a big deal.
Directed by RS Prasanna and backed by Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir as a basketball coach mentoring a team of neurodivergent players.
Genelia D’Souza joins him, alongside ten new actors with intellectual disabilities, bringing a fresh and inclusive vibe. Since hitting theaters on June 20, 2025, the film has raked in ₹267 crore globally and won over audiences with its warm, inspiring story, even if reviews have been a bit mixed.

At a Mumbai press event, Aamir shared why he’s taking this route. “For 15 years, I’ve wanted to reach the 97-98% of people who don’t watch films in theaters. YouTube’s global reach and digital payments make this possible,” he said. The movie will have subtitles and dubbing in several languages to connect with people everywhere.

This move is turning heads in Bollywood, where films usually hit OTT platforms a couple of months after theaters. Some call Aamir’s plan a brilliant way to make movies more affordable, while others think it’s a risky leap. Sitaare Zameen Par will stream on Aamir’s YouTube channel, Aamir Khan Talkies, which already has over 300,000 subscribers. He’s also planning to bring classics like Lagaan and Peepli Live to YouTube, mixing old-school charm with a new way to watch films.
