Liverpool Crowned Premier League Champions: A Season of Triumph Under Arne Slot

Liverpool Football Club won their 20th English top-flight trophy during the 2024-25 Premier League campaign, a feat that stood as Arne Slot’s first head coaching win at the club. Taking over as manager from Jürgen Klopp, who was responsible for Liverpool’s Premier League title in 2020, was a huge challenge for Slot. Despite great difficulties, the Dutchman led Liverpool to a championship win, finishing early in a season that went beyond expectations.

The Road to Glory

The 2024-25 season marked Liverpool’s 133rd year in existence and their 63rd year playing in the top division. By following Slot’s strategies, the Reds got 84 points in the season with 25 wins, 9 draws and 4 losses, placing them 10 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal. The title was secured on April 27, 2025, thanks to a strong win of 5-1 over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield, showcasing how Liverpool had been so strong all season.

Initially, everyone doubted how the season would turn out. Gary Neville and others expected Liverpool’s form to go down after Klopp left and Opta predicted that Liverpool only had a 5.1% chance of taking the title. Most believed that the reigning champions Manchester City would rule again and that Arsenal would be their main challengers. Still, Slot’s ability to adjust the team’s approach and tactics made a huge difference.

In their first three games, Liverpool raced to three wins and did not concede a goal; only two other managers have ever managed this in the history of the Premier League. It was a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on September 1 that really showed what Slot brought to the game, as he kept Klopp’s active football and started to play with more patience when keeping the ball. From November 2 on, Liverpool was in first place in the league and did not give up that position.
