Barcelona 2025 La Liga Champions: A Season of Triumph

FC Barcelona won their 28th La Liga title in 2025, climbing to the top of football records, led by Hansi Flick. The Catalans regained the Spanish crown from Real Madrid and also won the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey, making them dominant in Spanish football once more. This piece looks into thehighlights, stars and strategies that helped Barcelona win La Liga in 2024/25.

A New Era Under Hansi Flick

Fans were cautiously optimistic when Hansi Flick began his job at Barcelona in the summer of 2024. Having finished trophyless during the previous season, Xavi Hernández’s departure allowed many to doubt whether the German manager could improve a struggling Barcelona squad. Despite this, Flick, a champion with Bayern Munich, introduced a strong style of football that saw the team come alive as a constant threat.

Right from the beginning, it was clear that Flick wanted to defend high, use the offside trap aggressively and be relentless with the counter-press. Barcelona’s unique style came to mean playing fearlessly and aggressively, combining their usual tiki-taka style with a more direct approach. With these new approaches, the young squad became a strong group that defeated opponents and entertained their fans.

Barcelona’s path to the La Liga title in 2025 was marked by their ability to be reliable and strong. Even with a tough finish to 2024, preceded by a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Atlético Madrid in January and falling eight points behind Real Madrid, Barcelona managed to impress through their turnaround.  At the end of the season, Barcelona had 88 points and were able to score the highest number of goals in Europe’s top five leagues, finishing with +63 goals. They scored in every single game and there were 12 matches with four or more goals, including both matches against Real Madrid. The team achieved an impressive 181 offside calls, a European record and maintained 13 clean sheets from 36 games, leading the defense.
