Titan Eye+ Unveils 'Ek Tara Test' to Promote Children's Eye Health

Titan Eye+ has launched the “Ek Tara Test” on Children’s Day to increase awareness about vision problems among children in India.

The test uses a glow-in-the-dark star-spotting card inspired by the traditional method where hunters assessed eyesight by identifying the stars Alcor and Mizar in the Saptarishi constellation.

The brand’s version turns this concept into a simple activity for children. By matching dots representing the constellation, parents can check if their child struggles with clarity, contrast, or low-light visibility. The idea is to help families notice early signs of vision issues that often go unnoticed.

According to Titan Eye+, more than 3 crore children in India have undetected vision problems. These issues can affect learning and development, yet many parents delay eye tests because children do not always realise or express that they are unable to see clearly.

Maneesh Krishnamurthy, head of marketing for the Eyecare Division at Titan Company Limited, said that one in five children faces blurry vision, and the new tool aims to encourage parents to act sooner. Ogilvy South, the agency behind the campaign, said the concept blends an old eyesight test with the familiar childhood habit of looking at the night sky.

Titan Eye+ clarified that the Ek Tara Test is a basic screening tool and not a replacement for a professional eye examination. It is meant to help parents identify potential issues early and motivate them to schedule a proper check-up.

With this initiative, Titan Eye+ hopes to make eye-screening more accessible and prompt families to prioritise children’s vision health before minor problems escalate.
