Tinder Launches Double Date Feature to Make Dating More Fun and Social

Tinder, the popular dating app, has rolled out a new feature called Double Date to shake up the online dating scene. This exciting addition lets users team up with a friend to create a joint profile and match with other pairs for group dates, making the experience feel more relaxed and friendly.

Available now in the U.S. and some global markets, with plans to expand worldwide by July 2025, Double Date allows two friends to swipe together on other duos in Tinder’s Discovery section. To get started, users tap the Double Date icon on the main card stack, pick up to three friends to pair with, and browse profiles shown side-by-side. A match happens when one person from each pair swipes right, kicking off a group chat where all four can plan their hangout. This setup takes the pressure off one-on-one dates, letting friends ease into conversations naturally.

Tinder says early tests show a lot of excitement, especially among users under 29, who make up nearly 90% of Double Date profiles. Younger daters seem to love the group vibe, as it feels less intimidating with a friend by their side. Women are three times more likely to check out pair profiles, and group chats are buzzing with 35% more messages than standard chats. Plus, 15% of people jumping into Double Date are either new to Tinder or coming back, giving the app a fresh boost.

“As Double Date is in testing, premium features like Boosts and Super Likes are not compatible,” Tinder shared, adding that users should follow Community Guidelines to keep things respectful. Building on features like Tinder Matchmaker and Share My Date, Double Date shows Tinder’s focus on creating more genuine, social ways to connect. As dating apps work to keep users engaged, this feature puts Tinder at the forefront of modern dating trends.
