PSG's Stunning Comeback Shocks Tottenham in UEFA Super Cup
In a dramatic UEFA Super Cup clash in Udine, Italy, on August 14, 2025, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 in a penalty shootout, securing their fifth trophy of the year.
The match, pitting the Champions League winners against the Europa League champions, saw PSG overcome a 2-0 deficit to claim victory.
In the 39th minute, Micky van de Ven pounced on a mistake by PSG’s new goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, who tipped a shot onto the bar, only for van de Ven to fire it home.
Just after halftime, Tottenham’s new captain, Cristian Romero, made it 2-0 with a thumping header in the 48th minute, catching PSG’s defense off guard. Fresh off a tough Club World Cup and missing their old keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, PSG looked shaky, while Tottenham, sharp from a long preseason, seemed ready to add another trophy to their Europa League win under former boss Ange Postecoglou.
