Morgan Wallen Skips 2026 Grammy Awards for Latest Album

By Media Infotainment Team | Thursday, 21 August 2025

Country music giant Morgan Wallen announced on August 20, 2025, that he will not be entering his breakout album I m the Problem in next year s 2026 Grammy Awards.

This is a daring move that is an obvious slap at the Recording Academy that has not honored Wallen with awards much even though he has sold millions of records.

Released in May 2025, the album has spent 11 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, and 36 of its 37 songs having reached the Billboard Hot 100, with six of the songs going in the top 10.

Wallen’s choice follows a pattern seen with artists like The Weeknd, Drake, and Zach Bryan, who’ve also distanced themselves from the Grammys. His history with the awards is rocky—he’s never won a Grammy, and his only nominations, for the 2025 ceremony, came from his collaboration on Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help.”

His earlier blockbuster album One Thing at a Time was largely ignored by the Academy, which likely plays into his decision. Insiders say Wallen’s move is a polite but firm “no thanks” to an institution that hasn’t fully embraced him.

I’m the Problem, a 37-song journey through heartbreak and reflection, features duets with artists like Tate McRae and Eric Church. While Wallen himself is sitting out the Grammys, some co-writers might still submit songs for consideration, which could lead to nominations. Meanwhile, Wallen’s star continues to rise. Fresh off a stadium tour and an Entertainer of the Year win at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards, he’s proving his fanbase is stronger than ever.

Wallen’s career hasn’t been without bumps. A 2021 racial slur controversy and a 2024 arrest for reckless endangerment stirred headlines, but his fans have stuck by him, driving I’m the Problem to huge commercial success. By skipping the Grammys, Wallen seems to be saying awards don’t define him—his chart-topping numbers and loyal supporters do.
