Meta Leak Reveals Next-Gen Smart Glasses Before Connect 2025

By Media Infotainment Team | Tuesday, 16 September 2025

In a classic tech slip-up, Meta accidentally spilled the beans on its next-generation smart glasses just days before its big Meta Connect 2025 event, set for September 17-18.

A promotional video popped up briefly on Meta’s YouTube channel before being yanked, but not before eagle-eyed fans caught a glimpse of the new Ray-Ban and Oakley-branded smart glasses. The leak, first spotted by UploadVR, revealed sleek designs with a built-in display and a cool new wristband for gesture control.

The star of the show is the Ray-Ban Display glasses, which sport a heads-up display (HUD) on the right lens.

This lets you see notifications, get directions, or tap into Meta’s AI for voice-activated help. Paired with a wristband called Ceres, which uses surface electromyography (sEMG) to read muscle signals, you can control the glasses with simple hand gestures.

Meanwhile, the Oakley Sphaera model skips the display but packs a centered camera, speakers, and microphones for a sporty vibe. Both are part of Meta’s ongoing partnership with EssilorLuxottica, blending fashion with cutting-edge tech.

Tech enthusiasts are buzzing, with investor Ross Gerber calling the glasses a “game changer” for how we interact with devices. Building on the Ray-Ban Stories from 2021, which introduced photo and video features, these new models aim to fix issues like short battery life and add more advanced tricks. They’re Meta’s latest step into augmented reality (AR), putting them in the ring with brands like Rokid and Google.

Word on the street is the display glasses might cost around $800, with a release later this fall. The leak has tech fans hyped, eager to see how Meta’s vision for AI-powered wearables will shape the future.
