Mafia: The Old Country, the latest addition to Hangar 13’s beloved action-adventure series, is hitting PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on August 8, 2025.

A new trailer, “The Family Code: Combat,” just dropped, giving fans a raw, intense look at the game’s combat system. It’s packed with brutal gunfights and up-close knife fights, all set in the rough-and-tumble world of early 1900s Sicily.

The trailer shows off the game’s third-person shooting, where you play as Enzo Favara, a guy climbing the ranks of the Torrisi crime family by taking on dangerous missions.

The combat feels dynamic, especially the melee system, which centers on knife fighting. You can unlock different knives, each with its own vibe, letting you mix up your attacks with slashes, stabs, dodges, and parries—think along the lines of Batman: Arkham’s slick hand-to-hand combat.

Set in the made-up Sicilian town of San Celeste, Mafia: The Old Country goes back to the series’ storytelling roots, more like the focused, linear feel of the first two Mafia games. It dives into the early days of organized crime, tracing Enzo’s rise from a tough childhood working in sulfur mines to becoming a key player in the mob. Hangar 13’s President, Nick Baynes, calls it a “gritty, emotional, and brutal” story that’s sure to hit hard.

Fans on X are buzzing, though opinions are split. Some are stoked about the return to Mafia’s classic storytelling and the immersive Sicilian setting, while others aren’t sold on the combat and stealth mechanics, saying they feel a bit old-school. Still, the trailer’s cinematic flair has plenty of people hyped.
