Lando Norris Triumphs at Rain-Hit British Grand Prix

Lando Norris celebrated a dream come true, winning his first British Grand Prix in a wild, rain-soaked race at Silverstone. The 25-year-old McLaren driver mastered tricky conditions to claim victory in front of 168,000 cheering fans, including 10,000 at his special “Landostand” at Stowe corner.

The race, marking 75 years since Silverstone hosted the first-ever Formula One Grand Prix, was full of drama. Starting third behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and teammate Oscar Piastri, Norris stayed cool as rain caused chaos. Crashes involving Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto and Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar brought out the safety car multiple times. A key moment came when Piastri, who led early on, got a 10-second penalty for erratic braking behind the safety car—a call that handed Norris the lead.

Norris crossed the finish line nearly seven seconds ahead, calling the win “the best feeling ever.” This victory, his second in a row after Austria, brings him within eight points of Piastri’s championship lead (226 to 234 points).

Sauber’s Nico Hülkenberg stole the show with a surprise third-place finish, his first podium in 239 races. Starting 19th, he made bold tire choices in the rain to pass Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, who took fourth. Max Verstappen, after a spin on lap 22, fought back to fifth.

Piastri wasn’t happy with the penalty, saying, “I thought I was within the rules.” McLaren boss Andrea Stella called it “tough” but didn’t ask Norris to give up the win, wanting to keep the race fair.
