Jio Star aims to generate up to ₹6,000 crore in ad income from TV and digital channels during the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy and Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Up to ₹1,500 crore in ad revenue from the Champions Trophy and up to ₹4,500 crore from the IPL are anticipated by the broadcaster. A comprehensive ad rate card for the IPL is on the horizon, while rate cards for the ICC Champions Trophy have already been created. With an emphasis on selling Champions Trophy space first, Jio Star's ad sales staff is bargaining with advertisers for both events in a fierce manner. The dates of the tournament are set for February 19–March 9. The IPL 2025 season will begin on March 23 and end on May 25.

The Champions Trophy on Star Sports is seeking ₹55 crore for co-presenting sponsorship, ₹44 crore for associate sponsorship, and ₹28 crore from partner sponsors. The TV spot rate for Indian matches is ₹28 lakh every 10-second spot. Jio Star seeks ₹55 crore from co-presenting sponsors, ₹45 crore from powered-by sponsors, and ₹25 crore from associate sponsors for its digital platforms. The CPM rates for the entire tournament are ₹250 for 10-second spot, and ₹500 for India matches. The Connected TV (CTV) spot rate is ₹7 lakh for the tournament and ₹15 lakh for India and play-off matches.

"Jio Star's ad revenue targets appear ambitious in light of the current ad market slowdown, and will ultimately be determined by overall demand." However, several sectors, such as financial services and automobiles, indicate excellent growth possibilities. On the other side, FMCG, the greatest contributor to TV ad spending, has yet to regain its previous ad spending pace," said Hema Malik, chief investment officer at IPG Mediabrands.

Disney Star allocated ₹167 crore for co-presenting and ₹83 crore for associate sponsorships on SD channels, as well as ₹71 crore and ₹35 crore on HD channels, for the IPL 2024. Spot pricing were ₹12.8 lakh (SD) and ₹5.45 lakh (HD) for 10-second spots. JioCinema's mobile CPM was ₹200 with FCT rates of ₹16 lakh (mobile) and ₹6.5 lakh (CTV).

According to an ad industry insider, the hike in IPL ad rates might be between 15-20%. Prior to the merger, the IPL media rights were shared by Disney Star and Viacom 18.
