India Retain No.1 in ICC ODI Rankings Despite Narrower Lead
India have maintained their position as the world’s top-ranked ODI team following the latest annual update to the ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings. However, the gap separating India from second-placed New Zealand has narrowed, reflecting a tighter contest at the top of international cricket.
Under the revised rankings, India remain in first place with 118 rating points, a slight decline from their previous tally of 119. New Zealand have strengthened their position by gaining two rating points, moving to 113 and reducing India’s advantage from eight points to five.
Reigning ODI World Cup champions Australia continue to hold third place with 109 rating points, maintaining their previous ranking and remaining firmly in contention among the leading cricket nations.
- India remain world No.1 despite reduced lead over New Zealand in ODI rankings.
- South Africa climb to fourth place, overtaking Pakistan in latest update.
- New Zealand gain points after annual revision, narrowing gap with top-ranked India.
South Africa Climbs, Pakistan Slips
One of the most notable changes in the updated rankings is South Africa’s rise to fourth position. The Proteas now have 102 rating points, allowing them to overtake Pakistan, who have dropped to fifth with 98 points.
While the overall composition of the top 10 remains largely unchanged, the rankings update has widened the gap between ninth-placed Bangladesh and the West Indies, highlighting a growing separation between the two sides.
Movements Beyond the Top 10
Several lower-ranked teams also witnessed positional changes following the annual revision:
- Ireland moved ahead of Zimbabwe to claim 11th place.
- The United States climbed above Scotland to secure 13th position.
- The United Arab Emirates overtook Canada to move into 19th place.
These shifts reflect the impact of recent international performances and the ICC’s annual recalibration of ranking points.

India Continues Dominance in White-Ball Cricket
India’s continued hold on the No.1 ODI ranking comes shortly after retaining the top position in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings following last week’s annual update. The rankings underline India’s sustained strength across white-ball formats and reinforce their status as one of the most consistent teams in world cricket.
Meanwhile, Australia remain the top-ranked side in the ICC Men’s Test Rankings, while also holding the No.1 position in both the Women’s ODI and Women’s T20I team rankings, highlighting their dominance across multiple formats of the game.
With international cricket entering another busy season, the battle for the top ODI ranking is expected to intensify as New Zealand and Australia continue to challenge India’s position at the summit.
