Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma became a part of history in his cricketing career as he completed 18 years of international cricket experience on June 23. The veteran cricketer greeted the day by sharing a sentimental post on Instagram, sharing a story which read, "Forever grateful 23.06.07," the day when he played his first international cricket.
Sharma made his Indian debut against Ireland in Belfast on June 23, 2007. Although he did not even face a ball during his first match, his ride only continued from there and today he is one of India's leading batters across all three formats. In the near two decades that have passed since then, Rohit has turned into an integral part of Indian cricket and is renowned best for classy hitting, leadership, and consistency.
Rohit has already retired from Test and T20I cricket at 38 years of age. He has played 67 Tests and has scored 4301 runs with a batting average of 40.57 with 12 hundreds and 18 fifties. In T20Is too, he was world class, scoring 4231 runs in 159 games, with five hundreds and 32 fifties.
But his actual supremacy is very much in One Day Internationals (ODIs). In 273 games, Rohit has made 11,168 runs with a mind-boggling average of 48.76, with 32 centuries and 58 half-centuries under his belt.

In his reign, India has captured the ICC Champions Trophy this year and recently captured the 2024 T20 World Cup, solidifying his leadership further.
Rohit is not part of India's current England tour following his Test cricket retirement last month. His next probable return may be in the Bangladesh white-ball series in August.
While cricketing heroes and enthusiasts paid their respects, Rohit's heartfelt tweet expressed gratitude and nostalgia for a golden stint which would last.
