India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2025‑26 Group A match at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. Batting first, India posted a competitive 175/7, led by Ishan Kishan’s 77 off 40 balls.

Despite strong efforts from Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube, Pakistan’s decision to field after winning the toss backfired.

India’s top order, anchored by Kishan, built a solid foundation for their total, showcasing resilience on a spin-friendly surface. Pakistan's bowling struggled to break through, and India kept up the tempo throughout their innings.

In reply, Pakistan’s chase faltered early. The opening bowlers, led by Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, struck early, leaving Pakistan at 13‑for‑3 in the powerplay.

Despite a valiant 44 from Usman Khan, Pakistan failed to build partnerships, with the middle order crumbling under pressure. India’s spinners, including Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy, maintained tight lines to ensure Pakistan never recovered.

With this victory, India secured their place in the Super 8s, remaining unbeaten with three wins from three. Pakistan’s hopes of advancing now rest on their remaining matches, particularly against Namibia.
