Instagram has introduced a set of Valentine’s Day features across Stories, Reels, Notes and direct messages, aimed at helping users mark the occasion with themed creative tools.
The updates are available on Instagram from February 12 to 16, while several additions will remain available on its video editing app, Edits.
On Instagram, users can access new Valentine’s-themed fonts and animated text effects for Stories and Reels.
The platform has also added photo sticker frames with heart-led designs, allowing users to highlight selfies or shared moments in a seasonal style.
These features are designed to be applied directly within the Instagram creation flow, without requiring third-party apps.

- New themed fonts, secret phrases and chat themes arrive on Instagram for Valentine’s Day
- Edits app adds romantic presets and 100x speed feature for short-form videos
Instagram has also introduced “secret phrases” for Stories. When specific words are typed into Story comments, hidden animations and visual effects are triggered, adding an interactive layer to conversations. In addition, custom mention stickers have been refreshed with Valentine’s visuals, making it easier to tag friends or partners in Stories.
The platform’s Notes feature, which allows short status updates in the direct messages inbox, has received themed prompt text for Valentine’s Day. Certain phrases unlock special styles, encouraging users to post occasion-specific notes that stand out in chats.
Private conversations have also been updated with a dedicated Valentine’s Day chat theme for direct messages. The theme is available in both light and dark modes and can be applied to individual chats, extending the seasonal look beyond public posts.
Alongside Instagram, the Edits app has received updates focused on video creation. These include Valentine’s-themed fonts, text presets and sound effects, such as romantic audio cues that can be layered into videos. Unlike the Instagram features, several of these tools will remain available after Valentine’s Day.
Edits has also introduced a technical upgrade that allows creators to increase playback speed up to 100x, enabling fast-paced visual effects for short-form videos.
