Mumbai Indians Dominate Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 Showdown
Mumbai Indians (MI) were unstoppable on Thursday night, crushing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in a one-sided IPL 2025 clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Led by a fired-up Hardik Pandya, MI made light work of SRH’s total, chasing 144 in just 15.4 overs to claim their fourth win in a row.
SRH got off to a nightmare start after MI chose to bowl first. Their top order collapsed to 24/4 in the powerplay, the worst in IPL 2025. Trent Boult was on fire, ripping through Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy with a brilliant 4/26. Only Heinrich Klaasen stood tall, smashing 71 off 44 balls and teaming up with Abhinav Manohar for a gutsy 99-run partnership to push SRH to 143/8. Jasprit Bumrah kept things tight, Deepak Chahar grabbed two wickets, and Hardik snuck in a crucial scalp.
MI’s chase was pure fireworks. Rohit Sharma led the charge with a dazzling 70 off 46 balls, hammering three fours in one Harshal Patel over and racing to his second straight fifty. His knock put him alongside Virat Kohli in the IPL’s run-scoring elite. Suryakumar Yadav, cool as ever, finished unbeaten on 40 off 19, mixing clever sweeps with booming shots. SRH’s bowlers, including Pat Cummins and a barely-used Mohammed Shami, had no answers. Jaydev Unadkat snagged an early wicket, but MI were in a different league.
The pitch was tough early but got easier as dew set in, which Hardik smartly used to his advantage by bowling first. SRH, with just two wins in eight games, are now on the ropes, while MI’s red-hot form, powered by Boult’s Player of the Match spell, has them looking like serious contenders.
