Gujarat Titans Edge Mumbai Indians in Thrilling IPL 2025 Clash

In a rain-affected nail-biter at Wankhede Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) clinched a dramatic three-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, ending MI’s six-match winning streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The win propelled GT to the top of the points table with 16 points, while MI slipped to fourth.

GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first. His bowlers, especially Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, were on fire, keeping MI to just 155/8 in their 20 overs. MI’s Suryakumar Yadav and Corbin Bosch tried to steady the ship, and Will Jacks fought hard for a fifty despite being dropped twice. But GT’s sharp bowling made it tough for MI to get going on a tricky pitch.

When GT started chasing 156, rain kept interrupting, shrinking their target to 147 in 19 overs. MI’s Trent Boult struck early, getting rid of Sai Sudharsan for just 5. But Gill, who was named Player of the Match, and Jos Buttler held firm, putting together a solid 72-run partnership. Things got tense when Jasprit Bumrah roared back, dismissing Shahrukh Khan and shaking GT’s middle order. With 15 runs needed in the final over bowled by Deepak Chahar, Rahul Tewatia and Gerald Coetzee turned it up, smashing a four and a six. On the very last ball, with one run to win, Arshad Khan kept his cool and sneaked a single as MI’s Hardik Pandya missed a run-out, sparking wild celebrations among GT fans.

The match, dragged past midnight by rain delays, saw MI penalized for a slow over-rate, which limited their fielders at the end. Gill was all smiles, praising his team’s grit. Pandya admitted MI gave it their all but fell just short. Both teams are now gearing up for big games ahead in the playoff chase.
