Businesses can Now Advertise on Threads

Threads’ parent company, Meta, will now allow their users to advertise their business in Threads. In a recently posted blog, Meta mentioned that “eligible advertisers globally” will be able to run ads on Threads. Threads was introduced in the year 2023 as a social networking platform. This post has opened up Meta's microblogging service to all advertisers.

This facility by Meta is not only limited to advertisements. Those who will be running ads in Threads, can now also get access to Meta’s Inventory Filter. Through this filter, one can determine how their promotion appears. What content does the promotion contain? And also facilitate comparison with offensive content.     The systemization of the ads feature in Threads will be done in a gradual process. This move from Meta is not secret, as Meta’s Chief Financial Officer Susan Li stated in January, “Introduction of ads on Threads will be gradual, and we don’t anticipate it being a meaningful driver of overall impression or revenue growth in 2025.”

Threads has more than 320 million monthly active users, so giving access to advertisements in Threads can create a major revenue for Meta. Even though ads will be introduced to the platform, Threads will remain a major social networking platform in itself. The founder of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, stated, “I expect Threads to continue on its trajectory to become the leading discussion platform and eventually reach 1 billion people over the next several years.” Sharing his expectation of making Threads one of the major revenue sources for Meta.
