Meta said ad revenue was USD46.8 billion for the fourth quarter of 2024, part of total revenue of USD48.39 billion, which increased 21 percent year over year.

Total revenue for the full year was USD164.50 billion, an increase of 22 percent compared to the previous year.

Advertising remained the largest source of revenue for Meta, and ad impressions across its Family of Apps grew 6 percent year-over-year in Q4 and 11 percent for the full year.

The average price per ad grew 14 percent for the quarter and 10 percent for the year.

Meta claims that the decision to pull out of its fact-checking program hasn't deterred advertiser spend. During Meta's Q4 2024 earnings call, the company's chief financial officer Susan Li attempted to end nervous investors, saying advertiser demand remained robust and reiterated the company's dedication to brand safety, even considering the change.

The CEO said that the addition of the feature, Community Notes, is actually a "better" system than what existed prior and acknowledged the concept was indeed implemented by X. Li from a long time ago added Meta has not really seen any measurable impact on how much advertisers were spending because of its content policies, though did not offer quantifiable data in that regard, but she explained how Meta AI-powered tools really drive business solutions in helping improve ad spend.

Total costs and expenses for Q4 were USD25.02 billion, an increase of 5 percent year over year, with full-year costs and expenses being up 8 percent to USD95.12 billion. This period saw a favorable impact of USD1.55 billion from reducing accrued losses pertaining to certain legal proceedings.

Capital expenditures, which include principal payments on finance leases, were USD14.84 billion for the quarter and USD39.23 billion for the full year.

Meta continues to develop its AI-driven ad tools, including its machine learning system Andromeda, which helps optimize ad retrieval.

Today, more than 4 million advertisers are using at least one of Meta's generative AI ad creative tools - up from 1 million six months ago. Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns, the company's automated ad solution, now have an annual run rate greater than USD20 billion, with growth of 70 percent year over year in Q4.

Looking ahead, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized continued investments in AI and the metaverse, predicting that Threads will evolve into a major discussion platform with a billion users over the next several years. He also pointed to 2025 as a "pivotal year" for the metaverse, with increased adoption of Quest and Horizon Worlds.
