Bigg Boss Bangla Returns After a Decade with Sourav Ganguly as Host

Bigg Boss Bangla has returned to television after almost 10 years, opening its third season on Sunday on Star Jalsha and JioHotstar. The show is back with former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly as host, alongside a 15-member cast drawn from acting, music, football, business and social media.

Contestants Enter the Bigg Boss Bangla House

The premiere saw contestants enter the house one by one. Actor Monami Ghosh was the first through the door - with Durga Puja approaching, she arrived on stage as Uma in a white-and-red saree and performed to one of her own songs.

Actor Bharat Kaul, known for portraying negative characters across films and television, was the second entrant, followed by singer Durnibar Saha, a singing reality show winner who has since worked as a playback singer.

Sohini Pal, daughter of late Bengali actor Tapas Pal, entered fourth. YouTuber Niranjan Mondal, better known as Laughtersane, followed as the fifth contestant, arriving in a dhoti-panjabi and describing himself as childlike, adding that household chores aren't something he does.

Nandini Roy, who recently left the television serial Kone Dekha Alo, entered sixth, making her ambition clear — she is in the house to win. Former footballer Dipendu Biswas, who played for East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting and the Indian national team, was the seventh entrant, saying his daughter was especially excited about him joining the show.

Entrepreneurs and Actors Round Out the Middle of the Lineup

Entrepreneur Tanushree Roy Das, known for her sari business, entered eighth, followed by actor Anindya Sengupta in ninth place, whose credits span films, television and OTT; he told Saurav Ganguly he doesn't have a strong sense of humour.

Social media influencer Sayak became contestant number 10, describing himself as someone who frequently gets caught up in trouble and controversy. Sourav Ganguly referenced Sayak's earlier beef-eating controversy, joking that avoiding social media controversies might mean switching off his comment section altogether.

Influencers and International Talent Join the Cast

Instagram influencer Jayita, who comes from a Bengali family but now lives in Mumbai, was the 11th entrant. British actor Alexandra Taylor, who has worked in Bengali films, entered at number 12, saying in Bengali, "My Bengali is very bad. I don't know what I will do after entering the Bigg Boss house." She added that she has a home in Kolkata and hopes to live there with her mother.

Actor Srijla Guha, who gained popularity through Mon Phagun and was recently seen in Jeet's Keu Bole Biplabi Keu Bole Dakat - her first major big-screen role - was the 13th contestant. Social media personality Jhilam Gupta entered as the 14th contestant.

Television actor Sonamoni Saha completed the lineup as the 15th and final contestant, saying she intends to stay in the house until the finale and leave with the trophy.

Bigg Boss Bangla's History Dates Back to 2013

The return marks the latest chapter in Bigg Boss Bangla's television history. The show originally launched on ETV Bangla in 2013, with actor Mithun Chakraborty hosting the first season, which was won by Anik Dhar.

The second season arrived in 2016 on Colors Bangla, hosted by actor Jeet, with Joyjit Banerjee taking home the trophy. The show now returns for its third season, a decade later, with Saurav Ganguly at the helm on Star Jalsha and JioHotstar.
