Sourav Ganguly Escapes Unhurt in Road Accident

Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly's vehicle met with a minor accident on the Durgapur Expressway while he was on his way to Burdwan for a function. Ganguly remained unhurt, and no one was injured. He proceeded to the planned function without any hurdles.

The accident took place when a truck made a sudden move into the path of Ganguly's convoy, and the vehicles had to apply brakes immediately. Ganguly's vehicle was able to stop in time, and there was no major accident. Ganguly was driving his Range Rover at normal speed when it was hit from behind by a truck suddenly.

While two cars behind him had a minor accident, Ganguly's vehicle was not damaged, and he did not get hurt, as per a report.

Ganguly went on with his schedule      

The former cricket team captain for India waited for nearly 10 minutes before proceeding to Burdwan University for his scheduled event. Sourav Ganguly kept to his schedule and continued on to Burdwan University's Golapbagh campus, where he interacted with students and answered their questions, even after the mishap. He later headed to Mohun Bagan ground inside the university before going to Radharani Stadium, where he was felicitated by the Burdwan Sports Association, as reported.

Expressing his gratitude, Ganguly said, "I am overwhelmed. It feels wonderful to be in Burdwan, and I truly appreciate the invitation. The Burdwan Sports Association had been requesting my visit for a long time. The Cricket Association of Bengal has collaborated with Burdwan’s sports community for 50 years, and many talented players have emerged from this region. We must continue scouting talent from the district in the future."            

Ganguly, who debuted in ODI cricket in 1992, was finally appointed the captain. As a captain, his achievements were to take India to the final of the 2003 ODI World Cup and the win in the final of the 2002 NatWest Trophy.
