Aamir Khan Unveils Rugged Avatar as Dahaa in Rajinikanth's 'Coolie'

The first look of Aamir Khan as ‘Dahaa’ in the upcoming Tamil action thriller Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, was revealed on July 3. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and backed by Sun Pictures, the film is gearing up for a massive IMAX release on August 14, 2025, and it’s already shaping up to be a blockbuster.

• The makers dropped a stunning black-and-white poster on X, showcasing Aamir in a rugged new avatar. Sporting a black vest, round glasses, tattoos, and smoking a pipe, Aamir’s intense look as Dahaa has set social media on fire. The caption read, “Meet #AamirKhan as Dahaa in #Coolie. Get ready for an IMAX takeover on August 14th!” Fans are thrilled, with many predicting the film could cross Rs 1,000 crore at the box office.

Aamir, who recently starred in Sitaare Zameen Par, shared that he didn’t need to hear the script to sign on for Coolie. His admiration for Rajinikanth was enough to seal the deal. The two stars, who last worked together in 1995’s Aatank Hi Aatank, will share the screen. Expect high-energy action and powerful dialogues in this epic face-off.

Coolie features a star-studded cast, including Nagarjuna as the villain Simon, along with Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir. Pooja Hegde will also light up the screen in a special dance number. With a hefty Rs 375 crore budget, the movie dives into the world of gold smuggling and will hit theaters in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi (as Majdoor in Hindi markets to avoid confusion with earlier Bollywood films).

The film’s first song, Chikitu, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, is already a hit. As Coolie gears up to clash with War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, it’s set to be a massive pan-Indian showdown that unites the best of North and South cinema.
