Tottenham Hotspur: 2025 UEFA Europa League Champions

At the EUFA Europa League final in Bilbao, Spain, Tottenham Hotspur claimed their first European trophy in 31 years by ending their 17-year trophy drought with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United. Thanks to a goal by Brennan Johnson early in the first half, Spurs and their manager Ange Postecoglou won the trophy, which he had promised in the second season.

A Season of Redemption

On 21 May 2025, Tottenham Hotspur achieved their first trophy in 17 years by winning the UEFA Europa League with a score of 1-0 against Manchester United in Lizarran Stadium in Bilbao Spain. The team’s victory at San Mamés Stadium brought them their third Europa League (was known as UEFA Cup earlier) title, their first European silverware since 1984, and cemented a successful moment for manager Ange Postecoglou and captain Son Heung-min.

Brennan Johnson was the match winner, scoring a goal from a deflection off Luke Shaw’s foot in the 42nd minute. Although Spurs finished bottom of the Premier League in their home league, they did very well in the Champions League. They ended up in the finals, conquering Qarabağ, Ferencváros, and Bodø/Glimt, and finished the round with 10 wins and 28 goals.

In the end, Tottenham showed how tough they are thanks to Micky van de Ven’s important save at the goal line and Guglielmo Vicario’s late big saves. With this win, the team got £5 million, secured a place in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, and was rewarded with a match against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup. Even though Postecoglou was sacked weeks afterwards because the league was not going well, this triumph leaves a huge mark on Spurs and is celebrated by fans globally.
