Zepto, the quick commerce company known for super-fast deliveries, has jumped into the online pharmacy game with Zepto Pharmacy.

The new service promises to deliver prescription and over-the-counter medicines in just 10 minutes, and it’s now live in parts of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Hyderabad.

This ad expands Zepto’s reach beyond groceries and food, bringing a new level of convenience to customers needing medicines fast.

The Zepto Pharmacy feature is built right into the company’s main app, making it easy for users to order medicines alongside other essentials.  “Over the past 12 months, our team has worked tirelessly to perfect the customer experience, supply chain, and compliance at a small scale,” said Aadit Palicha, Zepto’s co-founder and CEO, in a LinkedIn post.

He noted that the team is taking a careful approach to scaling up, given the unique challenges of the pharmaceutical industry.

To keep things safe and legal, Zepto Pharmacy includes a system to verify prescriptions. For those without a prescription, there’s a teleconsultation option to connect with a doctor. Data from the platform showed that customers were searching for medicines over 100 times daily per store, proving there’s a real need for this service.

Zepto’s new venture puts it in direct competition with big names like Tata 1mg, Netmeds, and Apollo Pharmacy. The Indian quick commerce market, already worth $3.34 billion, is expected to grow to nearly $10 billion by 2029, fueled by demand for instant delivery. Zepto’s pharmacy push comes on the heels of strong growth, with FY25 revenue soaring 150% to ₹11,110 crore and losses cut in half, thanks to smarter operations.
