Warner Bros. Discovery Anticipates Over 6 Million New Max Subscribers in Q3
Warner Bros. Discovery predicts adding over 6 million new subscribers to its Max streaming platform in the third quarter, as the service gains traction in international markets.
“We’re starting to scale and in the second half of the year, you’ll see real revenue growth driven by real subscriber growth,” Warner Bros Discovery Chief Executive David Zaslav said at the Goldman Sachs’s Technology Conference on Thursday.
Last May, Warner Bros. Discovery revamped its streaming service with an expanded range of programming to bolster its position against major competitors such as Netflix and Walt Disney. This May, the company expanded Max into Europe, leveraging the excitement around the Paris Olympic Games to enhance its international appeal.
“We’re available in a lot of Europe and Latin America, and within two years, we’ll be available in most of the world, we’re going to be on those shelves,” Zaslav said.
Warner Bros.’ streaming service Max features premium content from HBO, as well as programming from HGTV, the Food Network, the Discovery Channel, and various other cable networks.
Zaslav highlighted that bundling Max with Disney+ and Hulu has driven a rise in subscribers this quarter and also mentioned plans to enhance studio operations. Additionally, the media giant announced earlier today that it has extended its multi-year agreement with Charter Communications to incorporate Max and Discovery+ into the cable provider’s streaming hub.
