The Cop who Slapped BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is from a Farming Family
Kulwinder Kaur, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) policeman who gained national attention on Thursday for allegedly striking actor-turned-BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, is descended from a farming family that has always supported agricultural demonstrations.
Two of Kulwinder's uncles, the older brothers of her father, served in the 1965 war against Pakistan, and other family members are still serving in the military.
Sher Singh, Kulwinder's brother, stands up for his sister, saying Kangana should be mindful of the "far-reaching" implications of the terms she uses in her remarks because she is an MP.
Singh, a member of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, stated, "Her reaction after the alleged incident that "terrorism" in Punjab is on the rise reflects how she can vilify Punjab, Sikhs, and farmers without any hesitation." This view is echoed not only in Mahinwal, the area where Kulwinder's parents were born, but also in other parts of Punjab.
Apart from Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, various other agricultural groups have been supporting Kulwinder. In an effort to show support for Kulwinder, members of Sikh and agricultural organizations paid her home in Mahinwal on Friday. They presented her entire family, including her grandparents, siropas, or robes of honor.
Kulwinder is a "well behaved" individual who is incapable of hurting anyone, according to her mother Veer Kaur. "I participated in the agrarian movement and watched the demonstrations from the Delhi border. As Kangana said, am I worth a penny? About her daughter, who joined CISF in 2008, Kaur remarked, "She might have said something to Kulwinder first, but other than that, she has been very well behaved throughout."
Kulwinder has a son and a daughter, having tied the knot in 2015. The children have been taken to her parent's home, where her parents, grandparents, and brother's family reside, following her arrest. For about a year now, her father has not been doing well. Veer Kaur stated, "We haven't informed him about Kulwinder's arrest."
In order for people to understand "what actually happened and what triggered the argument," her brother Sher Singh has insisted that the video of the purported slap be made available to the public.
He said that following the event, the family was unable to communicate with Kulwinder.
