Spotify Launches New Video Features with Monetization Program

Spotify, a popular music streaming platform is introducing a new video feature to compete with YouTube. It has announced plans to pay podcast hosts who create popular videos on this platform. 'Spotify Partner Program,' is a new initiative that will help creators to earn money from their content in ways beyond just advertising. Previously, Spotify allowed creators to make money from podcasts, but now it’s also encouraging them to add videos with their podcasts.

In this new program, Spotify will pay creators on the basis of how much engagement their podcasts will obtain. Additionally, subscribers will shortly get access to watch video podcasts without any interruptions from ads. This step is focused on encouraging listeners to enjoy more video content on Spotify instead of YouTube or other platforms.

Creators can get these new features on January 2, 2025, onwards in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada. Creators who are willing to tie up with the Spotify Partner Program can apply to be a part of it and start to earn money from their video podcasts.

As Spotify steps into video content, the company also announced plans to introduce more features. It will add options like easy navigation, comments, pinch to zoom, and better search tools to assist users to get video content easily.

Furthermore, now creators can share short clips of their podcasts directly on Spotify. These clips will expose content to subscribers' home feeds and other areas of the application, helping to promote full length videos while not trying to compete with platforms focused on short videos.

Now Spotify has also made it easy for creators to get their own video thumbnails, like YouTube, and is modifying its dashboard to help creators easily track their content performance.

Meanwhile, Instagram is set to launch a new feature that will enable users to generate their own profile pictures using AI technology. While specific details are still under wraps, it appears that similar features also work for social media like Facebook and WhatsApp.
