Spotify Expands Music Video access to more Subscribers, excluding US

Spotify is launching a beta test for music videos in 85 new markets, giving Premium subscribers access to a “limited catalog” featuring artists like Charlie XCX, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Fontaines D.C., LISA, and others.

However, the US is not included in the list of available areas yet, and it’s uncertain when it will be. "As with all our features, availability can differ by market and tier," said Spotify spokesperson Brittany Le Roy in a statement to The Verge. "Music videos on Spotify are still in beta, and we look forward to expanding access to more users in additional markets, including the US, in the future."

With the broader rollout, Spotify is introducing a "Switch to video" toggle that allows users to quickly switch between audio tracks and videos. Additionally, there will be indicators showing whether a music video is available for a track. Similarly, YouTube Music offers an easy way to toggle between music videos and audio-only streams.

Spotify initially launched its music video feature in March, but it was only available in the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Kenya, with Egypt being added later.

The list is expanding to 97 markets as the feature "begins rolling out in new locations today with a limited catalog of music videos—and will continue to expand over the next few weeks." Premium subscribers can see if music videos are available in their area by opening the app and looking for the "Switch to video" button on supported songs.
