Senior ICC Executives Claire Furlong and Chris Tetley Resign Following the T20 World Cup

Two top executives of the sport's governing body have resigned, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced only one week before its Annual Conference, Cricbuzz said.

Both Claire Furlong, general manager of marketing and communications at ICC, and Chris Tetley, head of events, have reportedly submitted their papers to leave their positions.

This is probably a result of the US hosting more matches than anybody else, especially those played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Though the precise cause is yet unknown, ICC sources have allegedly disclosed that the resignations were submitted months ago.

According to a report on Cricbuzz, Tetley and Furlong wanted to quit the international body at the end of the most recent commercial cycle, but they lingered on because of the Twenty20 international Cup in the US, according to a specific source. The source continued, saying that although the two had resigned a while ago, they will stay on staff at the ICC for a few more months "to ensure a smooth transition of charge in a busy event cycle." Additionally, from July 19 to 22, they will be in Colombo for the Annual Conference."

Because of the irregular and challenging drop-in pitches that were utilized there for the T20 World Cup, the pop-up stadium in New York made headlines when it was disassembled following the group stage. It was stated that a few ICC members were holding off on bringing up the matter until the next Annual Conference.

The ground, constructed by a company named T20 World Cup Inc., was also the site of the India vs. Pakistan match, in which India prevailed by a narrow margin of 119 runs.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) acknowledged that the pitches at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not performed as consistently as everyone would have liked in a statement released following the India vs. Pakistan match. Since the end of yesterday's game, the elite grounds crew has been working nonstop to correct the problem and provide the greatest conditions for the remaining games."
