Sanju Samson to Join CSK in Major Trade for Jadeja & Curran

A major trade could reshape the IPL 2026 season as Rajasthan Royals (RR) are reportedly in advanced talks to send captain Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

According to ESPNcricinfo, CSK have identified Sanju Samson as their key target after a poor 2025 season. A CSK official confirmed interest, saying, “We are interested in getting Sanju. We have expressed our interest … RR is yet to confirm as their management said they are weighing the options.”

If completed, the move would end Jadeja’s long CSK stint that began in 2012, during which he helped the franchise win multiple titles. Curran, who joined CSK in 2020 before moving to Punjab Kings, would bring RR an additional all-round option and depth in the middle order.

For RR, the trade would mark the end of an 11-season association with Samson, who has led the side since 2021.

Reports suggest Samson is open to a change after years of mixed results with RR. For CSK, the deal would secure a top-order wicketkeeper-batter and potential long-term captaincy option as MS Dhoni nears retirement.

The trade is not final. Both franchises must submit formal consent from all players and gain IPL Governing Council approval before it becomes official.
