Royal Challengers Bengaluru batted first after PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer chose to bowl. They managed a solid 190/9 in their 20 overs, with Virat Kohli leading the way with a steady 43 off 35 balls. Rajat Patidar chipped in with 26, and Romario Shepherd’s quick 17 gave the innings a late boost. PBKS’s bowlers, Kyle Jamieson (3/48) and Arshdeep Singh (3/40), made things tough, using the Ahmedabad pitch’s unpredictable bounce to keep RCB in check.
Chasing 191, Punjab Kings fought hard, with Shashank Singh’s unbeaten 61 off 30 balls and Josh Inglis’s 39 keeping them in the hunt. But RCB’s bowlers stepped up when it mattered most. Krunal Pandya, who earned Player of the Match, bowled a game-changing 2/17, mixing up his pace to outsmart the batters. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/38) and Yash Dayal (key in the final overs) held firm, leaving PBKS at 184/7, agonizingly close but not enough. The match showed how T20 cricket has evolved, with clever bowling stealing the show.
Kohli, emotional after the win, said, “This is right up there. I’ve given everything for 18 years, stayed loyal to this team, and this victory with Bangalore is special.” Under captain Rajat Patidar, RCB’s balanced squad, including stars like Phil Salt and Josh Hazlewood, shone all season.
