Rapido Kicks Off Ownly Food Delivery App in Bengaluru

By Media Infotainment Team | Tuesday, 19 August 2025

Rapido, the go-to app for bike taxis, has jumped into the food delivery game with its new app, Ownly, now live in parts of Bengaluru.

The service is being tested in neighborhoods like Byrasandra, Tavarekere, Madiwala (BTM) Layout, HSR Layout, and Koramangala, taking on big players like Swiggy and Zomato.

What sets Ownly apart is its zero-commission approach, a game-changer compared to the 10-30% fees restaurants typically pay on other platforms. After talks with the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), which represents over 50,000 eateries, Rapido designed Ownly to be restaurant-friendly.

Instead of hefty commissions, restaurants pay a flat delivery fee—₹10 for orders under ₹100 and ₹25 for orders above—within a 4-km radius. Customers pay a ₹20 fee for smaller orders. This setup keeps food prices up to 15% cheaper than competitors, offering what Rapido calls “offline prices” online.

Ownly focuses on budget-friendly eats, with most dishes under ₹150, including basics like rice and eggs for less than ₹100. Popular brands like Wow!, Eatfit, Krispy Kreme, and Faasos are already on board. Rapido is using its existing network of two-wheeler riders to handle deliveries, building on its expertise in quick, reliable transport.

The app, currently available on Google Play Store but not yet on iOS, went through months of internal testing with Rapido employees to iron out kinks. Ownly promises no hidden fees or jacked-up menu prices, tackling common gripes restaurants have with other delivery platforms.

With this launch, Rapido is shaking up the food delivery scene, challenging Swiggy and Zomato’s dominance. The company plans to roll out Ownly in cities like Delhi and Mumbai soon. By keeping things affordable and fair for both restaurants and customers, Ownly could change how food delivery works in India.
