Rajat Sharma from India TV has been Chosen as President of the NBDA
Rajat Sharma, the chairman of India TV, has been overwhelmingly voted as the News Broadcasters & Digital Association's (NBDA) president. He takes over for Avinash Pandey, who was ABP Network's previous CEO.
According to Sharma, the TV news business is at a turning point, and the NBDA must band together to promote the interests of the genre—which is under a lot of strain—as it operates.
"It is our responsibility to ensure that we are allowed to operate in a fearless atmosphere to deliver free and fair news," he stated.
With nearly all of India's main news networks included, NBDA is the largest association of digital media and news broadcasters in the nation.
At the July 9 NBDA board meeting, there was a unanimous election. Aaj Tak, TV Today, Network TV 18, Zee News, NDTV, Sun TV, News24, ETV, and Matribhumi were among the attendees at today's gathering.
Remark by Rajat Sharma
Speaking to the NBDA, Rajat Sharma discussed the major difficulties that today's news broadcasters face. "There is a concentrated effort to discredit the news broadcast industry," he stated. "A segment of the internet is being exploited improperly to harass news anchors on a regular basis. To combat this threat, we must cooperate."
Sharma emphasized the difficulties encountered by people working in the news business by saying, "Our reporters, editors, and anchors are being singled out. They have an ecology in place that constantly threatens to undermine their legitimacy, so they are operating under extreme strain. It is our duty to make sure they have a courageous environment in which to communicate the truth."
