Punjab Kings Outclass Lucknow Super Giants in 37-Run Win
Punjab Kings delivered a brilliant performance to secure a 37-run victory against Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2025 match on Sunday. PBKS climbed to second position with 15 points from 11 matches after Prabhsimran Singh scored 91 while Arshdeep Singh dominated with his bowling.
PBKS batted first to achieve a total of 236/5 runs. Prabhsimran smashed 91 runs off just 48 balls and Shashank Singh hit 33 runs from his brief 15-ball appearance to propel their total. The LSG bowlers struggled to maintain control during the match particularly Mayank Yadav, who surrendered 60 runs because their wounded fast-bowling unit was undermanned.
Chasing 237, LSG got off to a shaky start, thanks to Arshdeep Singh’s brilliant 3/16 in four overs. The left-armer tore through LSG’s top order, leaving them reeling early. Despite a fighting 74 from Ayush Badoni, LSG finished at 199/7. Rishabh Pant, LSG’s captain, had another tough day, scoring just 18, which didn’t help their cause. Fans on X expressed frustration, pointing out LSG’s fading playoff hopes after losing both games to PBKS this season.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer was all smiles after the match, praising his team’s bold batting and sharp bowling. “Prabhsimran’s knock was phenomenal, and Arshdeep set the tone early,” he said. This win, PBKS’s seventh of the season, keeps them hot on the heels of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who lead with 16 points.
For LSG, the loss leaves them with 10 points from 11 matches and a worrying net run rate of -0.469, making their playoff path tougher. As IPL 2025 heats up, PBKS’s commanding performance shows they’re a force to reckon with, while LSG needs to bounce back fast to stay in the race.
