Mumbai Indians delivered an impressive 100-run defeat to Rajasthan Royals in Match 50 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium of the IPL 2025. The decisive 100-run win eliminated Rajasthan Royals from playoff contention while establishing Mumbai Indians as leaders of the points table during this season.

Mumbai Indians chose batting first during their toss and finished their innings by achieving 217/2 runs. The openers Rohit Sharma (53 off 36 balls) and Ryan Rickelton (61 off 38 balls) hit a cracking 112-run partnership before the crowd went wild. The unbroken partnership between Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya lit up the innings through their consecutive knocks of 48 runs each. The bowlers from RR struggled to limit MI batting as Theekshana and Parag managed to claim one wicket each during the match yet failed to prevent the blue team's strong offensive flow.

Chasing 218, RR’s batting lineup fell apart like a house of cards against MI’s fiery bowling. Young gun Vaibhav Suryavanshi, still buzzing from his century against Gujarat Titans, got out for a duck to Deepak Chahar. Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) smashed a couple of sixes to give fans a glimmer of hope, but Trent Boult sent him packing. MI’s bowlers, with Jasprit Bumrah (2/15) and Karn Sharma (3/23) leading the charge, ripped through RR’s middle order, leaving them five wickets down early. Jofra Archer tried to fight back with 30, but RR collapsed to 117 in 16.1 overs.

“We focused on playing simple cricket, and it’s working for us,” MI skipper Hardik Pandya said with a grin after the match. RR’s stand-in captain Riyan Parag, meanwhile, looked deflated, saying, “Losing those early wickets really hurt us.”

MI’s sixth win in a row has them looking like the team to beat, while RR, stuck with just three wins in ten games, are left picking up the pieces with their playoff hopes in tatters.
