Prasar Bharati and AEx SPORT Launch Global League Wrestling in India

In a groundbreaking move for Indian sports entertainment, Prasar Bharati, India’s public broadcaster, has partnered with AEx SPORT, the sports innovation arm of UK-based AdiGroupe, to launch Global League Wrestling (GLW), the first professional wrestling league of its kind in India.

This first-of-its-kind professional wrestling league is set to mix India’s love for storytelling with high-energy, world-class action, and it’s got everyone buzzing!

The partnership was sealed with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and GLW is ready to make its grand entrance on September 17, 2025.

Starting October 4, 2025, fans can catch weekly shows on DD Sports, Prasar Bharati’s streaming platform Waves, and All India Radio.

The first season will run for 40 weeks, packed with family-friendly episodes, cool new characters, epic storylines, and top-tier production that’ll hook viewers in India and beyond.

Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Prasar Bharati’s Chairman, is pumped about the project, calling it a “new era for Indian pro-wrestling,” He added, “This collaboration builds on our commitment to promote diverse sports and provide a national platform for India’s youth and athletes,” Gaurav Dwivedi, the CEO, chimed in, saying GLW will bring “fun, meaningful stories” that resonate with Indian fans.

Sanjay Viswanathan, head of AdiGroupe and AEx SPORT, is all about inspiring the next generation.“We aim to create immersive, inclusive experiences for sports fans worldwide,” he said.

And who’s leading the charge? None other than The Great Khali, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, now GLW’s Brand Ambassador and Talent Commissioner. “Wrestling changed my life, and GLW is a real shot for Indian athletes to shine on the global stage,” Khali shared with enthusiasm.
