Pocket FM Hits 100 Billion Minutes Streamed Globally
Pocket FM, which is an audio series platform, recorded over 100 billion minutes of global streaming and more than 45 million transactions in 2024 as revealed by its "Pocket FM Playback 2024" report.
The report reinforced the fact that storytelling and immersive audio dominate the global stage in the last year. The platform reached a wide audience with 54 percent of its listeners being Gen Z, 37 percent Millennials, and 5 percent constituting the last category, Gen X. It narrowly divided gender lines with 53 percent male listeners to 47 percent female.
The integration of AI-enabled audio series expanded the platform's content library by 36 times, while human-narrated series saw a twofold increase.
The fruits of this innovation are seven audio series with revenues of over USD10 million, which means a growth of 600 percent compared to 2023, while 35 series have reached the one-million-dollar mark, three times the number registered last year.
There are around 200,000 listeners who spend three hours daily, while more than 10,000 listeners even exceed 3,000 hours annually, an eight-hour average per day.
India is a significant market, with listeners in several cities such as Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat, Chennai, Jaipur, and Lucknow. Romance, Drama, Fantasy and Sci-Fi, and Horror and Thriller are at the top preferences among the Indian listeners.
The best-performing audio series underscored India's hunger for great stories. Over 100 million plays were followed by Secret Ameerzaada with close to 85 million plays, Insta Millionaire with 60 million plays, Instant Empire counting more than 50 million plays, and Super Yoddha garnering more than 42 million plays.
