Piastri Triumphs at Rain-Delayed Belgian Grand Prix

Oscar Piastri conquered a rain-soaked Belgian Grand Prix to claim his sixth win of the 2025 Formula One season, leading a McLaren one-two finish with teammate Lando Norris right behind in second.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium in third, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen settled for fourth at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

Torrential rain pushed the race start back by 80 minutes, turning the track into a slippery challenge. Even so, the top three drivers held their spots from qualifying.

Norris kicked off from pole, but Piastri, starting second, stole the show early. “Lap 1 was my best chance,” Piastri said after the race.“I got a good exit out of Turn 1, lifted as little as I dared through Eau Rouge, and took control from there.”

His gutsy driving and clever tire choice sealed McLaren’s first one-two at Spa in ages.

Norris, edged out by his teammate, tipped his hat to Piastri: Oscar did a great job. He committed more through Eau Rouge, got the slipstream, and that was it. "I’m happy for the team’s 1-2.” Leclerc hung tough to snag third for Ferrari, adding another podium to his tally.

Verstappen, racing in front of his home fans, couldn’t crack the top three. Mercedes’ George Russell grabbed fifth, with Williams’ Alexander Albon close behind in sixth. Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, starting from the pit lane, battled to seventh. Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson, Kick Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto, and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly filled out the top ten.

The wet track made things tricky, but Piastri’s bold start set the tone. “I wasn’t thrilled about the rolling start, but I saw my chance to take on Lando and went for it,” he said. McLaren’s big day shows they’re back in a big way, and Piastri’s hot streak keeps him in the thick of the championship fight.
