Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya expressed optimism on Sunday that the Indian contingent will set a new standard at the 2024 Paris Olympics, highlighting that sports have been a focus in recent years. "I am confident that this contingent will sustain India's growth trajectory in sports," Mandaviya stated during the ceremonial send-off of the Paris-bound athletes and unveiling of the contingent's playing uniforms.

"We saw a jump from two medals in Rio in 2016 to seven in Tokyo, with India moving from 67th to 48th (place), thanks largely to Neeraj Chopra's javelin gold. I'm optimistic that our athletes will push us even further up the medal table this time."

Attended by athletes, Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha, and Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, the event also emphasized the government's Target Olympic Podium Scheme, which assists athletes in preparation for the Games.

"The government has supported athletes through various schemes such as TOPS offering specialized support to those who excel." The three uniforms for the Indian delegation traveling to Paris -- ceremonial clothing, playing apparel, and performance shoes with travel supplies -- were displayed. Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and PT Usha, IOA Chief, launched the ceremonial robe and playing gear for the 2024 Paris Olympics in New Delhi.

"This event is not just about the unveiling of uniform and ceremonial dress but a symbol of the dreams and aspirations of billions of Indians who stand united behind the athletes," the prime minister remarked.

"The government has worked tirelessly to support athletes across disciplines to maintain their high world rankings, to send them to train in various locations in India and abroad, to hire renowned foreign experts as coaches and support staff, and to ensure the sports ecosystem keeps up with global evolution," he added.

Usha, the IOA's chief executive officer, stated that athletes in Paris would receive the greatest possible support."We have put together a formidable team led by Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala. It consists of sports medical experts, wellness specialists, dietitians, physiotherapists, and a sleep scientist. "For the first time, the IOA will provide a participation allowance to athletes, coaches, and support staff. "I am confident India will return from Paris with its best performance in any Olympics," remarked Usha.

The Indian contingent consists of around 120 competitors, including Olympic gold medalist in javelin throw Neeraj Chopra, a record number of 21 shooters, and a 16-member men's hockey squad.
