Paresh Rawal Returns Rs 11 Lakh with Interest After Leaving Hera Pheri 3
In a surprising twist, Bollywood star Paresh Rawal has exited the highly awaited Hera Pheri 3, returning his Rs 11 lakh signing amount plus 15% annual interest to Cape of Good Films, the production house owned by co-star Akshay Kumar. This follows a dispute after Rawal backed out of the film, which began shooting under director Priyadarshan in April 2025.
Key Highlights:
- Paresh Rawal exits Hera Pheri 3, returning Rs 11 lakh plus 15% interest after payment disputes with Akshay Kumar’s production house
- Rawal was set to earn Rs 15 crore, but quit over delayed payment terms, prompting a Rs 25 crore legal notice from Cape of Good Films
- Director Priyadarshan and co-star Suniel Shetty expressed disappointment, as the franchise’s future hangs in the balance
Reports suggest Rawal was set to earn Rs 15 crore for reprising his beloved role as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. However, the contract required the remaining Rs 14.89 crore to be paid a month after the film’s release, expected in late 2026 or 2027, as the main shoot is planned for next year. Uncomfortable with this payment delay, Rawal decided to step away, causing a stir among fans and the film industry.
Akshay Kumar’s production company sent a legal notice, seeking ₹25 crore for what they called unprofessional behavior, noting Rawal had joined pre-production and filmed a teaser during Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla. Priyadarshan shared his disappointment, saying, “Paresh didn’t inform us. I messaged him, but he refused to discuss, saying he didn’t want to disrespect me.” Suniel Shetty, returning as Shyam, called the exit “shocking,” highlighting the trio’s importance to the Hera Pheri legacy.

Rawal took to X to clarify that his exit wasn’t due to creative differences, expressing his “deep respect and trust” in Priyadarshan. By returning the signing amount with interest, he seems to be seeking a peaceful resolution. The future of Hera Pheri 3 is now uncertain, leaving fans wondering if a new actor will step in or if Rawal might return. The franchise, cherished for its 2000 and 2006 hits, faces challenges as it moves toward its third chapter.
