OpenAI Rolls Out Budget-Friendly ChatGPT Go Plan for India
OpenAI has launched a new subscription plan called ChatGPT Go, designed just for users in India at an affordable ₹399 per month (about $4.75).
This is the company’s first plan tailored specifically for a single country, making its advanced AI tools more accessible to millions in India, its second-biggest and fastest-growing market.
Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, shared that the plan was created to meet Indian users’ needs for a low-cost option with local payment methods.
The ChatGPT Go plan offers a big step up from the free version. It includes 10 times more messages, image creations, and file uploads, plus responses that are twice as personalized thanks to improved memory features.
Powered by OpenAI’s latest AI model, GPT-5, it also supports Indian languages better, making it a great fit for students, creators, and professionals who use AI for things like writing, problem-solving, or creating visuals.

Compared to the pricier ChatGPT Plus (₹1,999/month) and Pro (₹19,900/month) plans, Go doesn’t include access to older models like GPT-4o, video-making tools like Sora, or API features. But it stands out by letting users pay through India’s popular Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a first for ChatGPT subscriptions worldwide, along with credit cards and other local options.
With over 850 million internet users, India is a key market for OpenAI. CEO Sam Altman recently said the country could soon become its biggest market, as millions use ChatGPT for education, work, and creativity. The Go plan, which launched on August 19, 2025, is available through the ChatGPT website or app. Users can upgrade by choosing “Go” in the “Upgrade Plan” section.
