One Piece and Studio Ghibli Stars Join Forces for a Heartwarming Anime Film
Arvo animation has recently announced L etoile de Paris en fleur, which is the new anime film that will premiere in Japanese cinemas on March 13, 2026.
The film was directed by Goro Taniguchi who is the mastermind behind Code Geass and One Piece Film: Red, and features character designs by Katsuya Kondo of Studio Ghibli.
Combine it with a script by Reiko Yoshida, who has already given the world Violet Evergarden and A Silent Voice, and you are set on tears, honestly.
The anime is set in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century, and tells the story of two girls, Fujiko, a young painter voiced by Ami Toma (Lonely Castle in the Mirror), and Chizuru, a dreamer aspiring to become a ballet dancer.
On paths that cross, they fuel the visions of one another to make all their big dreams come true, with or without any obstacles. The film’s tagline, “I want to blossom in this city,” perfectly captures their passion and grit. It’s all about finding hope and staying strong in a vibrant, historical setting.

This movie’s been a labor of love for seven years, pushing through tough times like the COVID-19 pandemic. Kondo wasn’t sure about joining at first, but producer Kalki Rajeev’s enthusiasm convinced him, and he even created original artwork for the film. Taniguchi’s been super thankful for the team’s dedication, especially since this is an indie project. While we haven’t seen a trailer yet, Fujiko’s character design is out, and fans are already hyped.
