OLX India Launches Elite Buyer Program to Enhance Second-Hand Transactions

By Media Infotainment Team | Tuesday, 08 July 2025

OLX India, a leading online classifieds platform under CarTrade Tech Ltd., has unveiled its innovative "Elite Buyer" program, targeting its 180 million users to streamline and enhance the buying and selling of used goods. This subscription-based initiative, announced on July 7, aims to foster trust and efficiency in India’s booming second-hand market, aligning with the growing demand for quick commerce and AI-driven solutions.

The Elite Buyer Program introduces a premium experience for high-intent buyers, offering an Elite badge displayed during interactions with sellers. This badge is designed to boost seller response rates and expedite transactions, providing subscribers with a competitive edge. The program operates on a per-category basis, requiring separate subscriptions for users interested in multiple categories such as cars, electronics, or furniture. According to Vinay Sanghi, Chairman and Founder of CarTrade Tech, “Most buyers tend to operate within a single category, so the programme has been built accordingly”.

OLX India, which facilitates $3 billion in used goods sales annually with a gross merchandise value of $29 billion, is leveraging AI to power this initiative. The Elite Buyer Program is the first of several planned technology rollouts, including AI-driven verification, listing optimization, and enhanced trust and safety systems. Future tools will focus on payments, logistics, and financing support, though OLX will maintain its listings-first approach for now.

The program is part of CarTrade Tech’s broader digital transformation strategy, aiming to increase user stickiness and trust in a market projected for significant growth. With 53 million buyers and 18 million sellers annually, OLX India is positioning itself as a leader in the quick-commerce ecosystem for second-hand goods.
