IO Interactive, the Danish studio behind Hitman, just revealed the first trailer for 007 First Light, a new James Bond action-adventure game, during Sony’s State of Play 2025 event. Set to launch in 2026, it’ll hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. This marks Bond’s big gaming comeback, the first since 2012’s 007 Legends.

  • 007 First Light tells the origin story of a 26-year-old James Bond earning his “00” status
  • Launching in 2026, it features stealth-action gameplay, Q gadgets, and stunning global locations
  • It’s the first in a new Bond trilogy by IO Interactive, developed with Amazon MGM Studios

Teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios, IO Interactive crafted an original story about a 26-year-old James Bond. The game dives into his early days, showing him evolve from a naval air crewman to a slick MI6 agent with the coveted “00” status. The trailer gives us a bold, young Bond—gritty but clever—using stealth, combat, and cool Q Branch gadgets like Omega watches and an Aston Martin DBS.

The trailer is a visual treat, showing Bond in stunning locations like snowy peaks and sunny beaches. He’s up against a rogue agent and a shadowy conspiracy, guided by a tough mentor named Greenway and familiar faces like M, Q, and Moneypenny. Hakan Abrak, IO Interactive’s CEO, said they’re building a fresh Bond trilogy, separate from the movies or books, with this game as the starting point.

Optimized for PlayStation 5 Pro with smooth 60 FPS gameplay, 007 First Light lets you choose stealthy infiltration or all-out action. Fans can already wishlist it and sign up for an IOI account to snag in-game bonuses like the “On Duty” outfit and “Gilded Wraith” weapon skin. More details, including gameplay, will drop at the IOI Showcase on June 6, 2025.
