Nana Patekar Dies at 75: PM Modi and President Murmu Pay Tribute

Veteran actor Nana Patekar died at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, on Thursday. The actor was found unconscious and was taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him for around 45 minutes. He was declared dead at approximately 5:20 am.

The entire film industry and beyond has expressed their grief for Nana Patekar death, with PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu were among those who paid their tribute to the veteran actor.

PM Modi Pays Tribute to Nana Patekar’s Cinematic Legacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences following Patekar’s demise, remembering the actor for his distinctive screen presence, intensity and versatility.

PM Modi said that Nana Patekar had added in a lot of creativity and versatility in his roles and had made characters which will be remembered for generations. He also highlighted the actor’s frank and forthright personality, noting that Patekar never hesitated to express what he believed.

The Prime Minister further said that Patekar’s contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema was immense and that his passing had left a deep void. He extended condolences to Patekar’s family, friends and countless admirers.

President Murmu Remembers Nana Patekar’s Social Service

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed deep sorrow over the actor’s passing, highlighting both his artistic contribution and his work beyond cinema.

President Murmu said Nana Patekar’s powerful and evocative performances brought a wide range of human experiences to the screen, while his characters left a lasting impression on audiences. She also acknowledged his commitment to social service and concern for underprivileged communities.

Calling his death a great loss to Indian cinema, the President extended her condolences to his family and admirers.

Nana Patekar Leaves Behind a Lasting Cinematic Legacy

Born Vishwanath Patekar, the actor has been well known for his performances in Hindi and Marathi films, as well as his unique ability to deliver intense performances and his distinctive style in handling dialogue. He made his film debut in Gaman in 1978 and has also featured in some great movies like Parinda, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Natsamrat and Welcome. He received three National Film Awards and Padma Shri.

Nana Patekar was a star of many genres. He was known for his serious, dramatic roles, but he also made a splash with his comic timing in Welcome, playing Uday Shetty.
