Mohanlal's Thudarum Hits 2.33 Crores - Becomes 2nd Highest Pre-Sales Value in Mollywood
Mohanlal is again ready to entertain his audience after his release of L2: Empuraan. Today, 25 April, his film Thudarum is released in theaters. After fan movies like Empuraan, the dive back to a film like Thudaram has surprised many audiences. The film has earned Rs.2.33 crores alone in pre-sales from 1,186 shows across Kerala. This is recorded as the second-highest pre-release booking in the Malayalam industry for the year 2025.
The film has the amazing casting of Mohanlal, Shobana, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Farhaan Fazil, Shaijo Adimali, Thomas Mathew, and Irshad Ali. Tharun Moorthy, who is known for his works Operation Java and Saudi Vellakka, is the director of this film. The character of Shobana was previously decided to be played by well-known Tamil actress Jyothika, but at the time of shooting, the recasting had been done. Fans are excited to see the combo on the big screen, as the pair has delivered hits like Manichitrathazhu and Minnaram.
The film has made Rs.2.33 crores in Kerala. This is a good milestone for the film, considering that there were no promotions made for the film. The film has been trending in BookMyShow, with 6.22 thousand tickets being booked in an hour. But compared to Mohanlal’s Empuraan, the earnings of Thudaram are estimated to be low due to a lack of promotion.
But the fans who have watched the morning show are promoting the film through social media platforms, highlighting the good qualities of the film. One of the X users posted, “#Thudarum—SUPERB FIRST HALF. Tharun did it & presented Laletten with full charm and energy; situational comedies & self-trolls worked very well. Pre 20 minutes before the interval & the genre shift was chilling; the second half holds like this blockbuster for sure.” With the coming weekend, the film is expected to earn more.
